Call for applications to the Board of Directors
of the Stratford Perth Community Foundation 

STRATFORD, ON, November 16, 2020 – The Stratford Perth Community Foundation is currently seeking candidates to be considered for the Community Foundation’s Board of Directors. The Board of Directors provides strategic leadership, governance, establishes policy, oversees the operations and financial performance of the Community Foundation, and assesses the Board’s own effectiveness. The Community Foundation is looking for individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences who are interested in providing leadership and helping the Community Foundation fulfill its philanthropic mission. Participation on the Board is voluntary and there is no remuneration for service.

The Stratford Perth Community Foundation was established in 2004 by local business and community leaders as a registered charitable foundation to serve Stratford, St. Marys, and Perth County. The Community Foundation currently cares for $5M in assets and has provided over $1.5M in community grants since inception. The Stratford Perth Community Foundation is a proud member of the Community Foundations of Canada, a movement that connects over 191 community foundations from coast to coast to coast, to create a just, sustainable future.

With a skills-based policy Board that balances experience, knowledge, and professional expertise with geographic representation, the Community Foundation is seeking candidates who live and/or work in:

  • Perth East
  • Perth South
  • Stratford

The Community Foundation is particularly interested in candidates with the following knowledge and expertise:

  • Agriculture Sector Engagement
  • Digital Media / Communications
  • Fundraising, Development & Sponsorship
  • Legal / Policy Development

Expected Commitment from Board Members:

  • Attend 5 Board meetings that take place each year: one in conjunction with the Annual General Meeting
  • Able to commit the time and resources to serve on the Board, and one committee
    • Finance and Investment
    • Fund Development
    • Governance
    • Grant Advisory
  • Act as an ambassador for the Community Foundation
