May 30, 2017– Stratford, ON – Whether from a different country, city, business, school or community, we
have all been newcomers at least once in our lives and can understand the isolation it can bring. On June 9th
the Stratford Perth Community Foundation is partnering with several local organizations to host the
inaugural Stratford Perth Vital Conversation about sense of belonging in our community.
A Vital Conversation is a facilitated discussion with community members to learn more about the social,
economic and natural/built environmental trends impacting local quality of life – to help build momentum
and engage our community towards action.
The event organizers chose ‘sense of belonging’ as the topic for the first conversation because it is a
fundamental human need – just like food or shelter – and is essential to our sense of happiness and wellbeing.
Featured will be keynote speaker Brock Hart of Overlap, a diverse panel of local residents discussing
belonging and attendees will participate in small group discussions.
