A leadership and culture that is gripped by a pride to deliver customer value defines Culliton’s history. These core beliefs have guided this longstanding mechanical, electrical and HVAC contractor of choice in Southwestern Ontario throughout their 80 years of success.
Wishing to honour this important corporate milestone, President and CEO Tim Culliton sought to build a new kind of legacy for Stratford and Perth County. The Stratford Perth Community Foundation was once again a natural choice for a Culliton fund donation in perpetuity. As with other comparable donations, the principal will remain intact with interest earned on investments being annually distributed to the community. In this way, the Culliton gift will meet the community needs of today, tomorrow and the future.
With a history of both family and corporate giving that includes the United Way of Perth-Huron, the Rotary Respite House in Stratford, Stratford General Hospital Foundation, as well regional recipients such as the Children’s Health Foundation in London, Tim Culliton is more than aware of the vital role private donation plays in our communities.
For the past 37 years, Culliton has sponsored the Stratford Cullitons Junior B hockey team. Tim Culliton is currently the Chair of the Ambassador’s Council of the Children’s Health Foundation in London.
Culliton is a company built on a commitment to success and to sharing their success with their employees and the community. Their longevity is a testament to their commitment to quality, and their 80th celebration an occasion to mark years of doing what is right for customers, employees and our region.
Stratford Perth Community Foundation wishes to thank Culliton on behalf of our entire community for the 80th Anniversary Culliton Fund gift of $80,000. The Culliton Fund is a new legacy for our community.
Remembering Bill McLaughlin
Friends and family of Bill McLaughlin, a former resident of Listowel, have chosen to remember his passion for life by contributing to the North Perth Sports for Kids Fund, a sports fund within the Stratford Perth Community Foundation they felt Bill would have been proud to support.
An avid sportsman, Bill excelled in all sports but enjoyed a special passion for baseball. He was a player and coach in Listowel and he was involved both as a player and coach for both Stratford Jr. and Sr. Inter-county baseball teams for many years. He is remembered fondly by many former teammates and young players that he mentored.
In addition to his baseball talents, Bill was an excellent golfer and on his passing, friends and family could think of no greater act of remembrance than an annual gathering in his spirit on the links.
Family members Don, Mat and Andrew Harrison, along with great friends Lavern Topp and Rod MacKenzie set about creating a tradition in his honour, and this year marks their 4th annual Bill McLaughlin Memorial Golf Tournament, a fundraising effort in support of their third-party fund of choice. While they did not establish the fund, they regularly contribute, helping it to climb over time to more than $60,000.
The fund’s mandate is to support families with children who would otherwise be unable to engage actively in sport as a result of financial constraints. Equipment and fee subsidies have been provided using both earnings from the fund and special gifts.
Youth across North Perth have been helped to pursue recreational opportunities, and through the support of donors, like Bill’s friends and family, the resources will be available to assist for generations to come.
We are honoured Bill’s friends and family chose the Community Foundation as their community partner to celebrate Bill’s life. A lifetime of memories is never soon forgotten, and even more so when the individual being remembered leaves such a lasting mark.
Supporting the community as a family
Owners of Hyde Construction, Peter and Lisa along with their children Spencer & Sydnie, wanted to establish the Peter and Lisa Hyde Family Fund to create a living legacy to support the community in which they live and work. This fund will providetwo scholarships – one for St. Michaels Catholic Secondary School and one for Northwestern Secondary School – to students that are pursuing a career in the construction, building or engineering fields.
“Creating this fund has allowed us to support the community as a family. It provides us the opportunity to give back and teach our children the importance and value of community-mindedness.”
~ Peter and Lisa Hyde
