Stratford Perth Donor Survey FAQs

  1. What is the purpose of the survey?
    The purpose of the survey is for charities and not-for-profit organizations in Stratford, St. Marys and Perth County to gain a better understanding of the region’s donor base.
  2. Who initiated the project?
    In August of 2016, the Stratford Perth Community Foundation partnered with the University of Waterloo Community, Health, Environment, Communications (CHEC) Initiative to create and disseminate a survey to collect pertinent donor demographic information within Stratford, St. Marys, and Perth County.
  3. Where did the idea come from?
    Through community conversations, the Stratford Perth Community Foundation identified a lack of knowledge of the donor base within the region. The project was established to capture a snapshot of philanthropy in Stratford, St Marys, and Perth County.
  4. How will my responses remain confidential?
    All responses will be kept anonymous and confidential. CHEC will oversee the data collection and analysis and sanitize any data deemed confidential. For example, email addresses, IP addresses, and other identifiers will be deleted. Open-ended responses will be shared with the appropriate organization(s) to ensure comments and concerns can be properly addressed. CHEC will delete any personal information revealed in the open-end responses in order to maintain anonymity. Participating organizations have signed a confidentiality agreement in order to maintain the confidentiality of tailored data. Once the data has been collected, the survey link and account will be deleted.
  5. How will the data be used?
    All participating organizations will receive a complete summary of the sanitized data. In addition, participating organizations will receive a tailored report that includes data specific to their organization. Finally, a comprehensive summary report of the sanitized data will be available to the general public at a later date through public relations, social media and through each respective participating organization’s communications.
  6. How long will the survey run online?
    The survey link will remain open for three weeks from May 23, 2017 to June 13, 2017. Following the three week period, the data will be extracted and the survey link and the account will be deleted.
  7. How else can I access the survey?
    Participating organizations will distribute the survey online through SurveyMonkey via an email to stakeholders. In addition, the link will be made available to the general public through public relations and social media. A request will be made to share the link on Stratford, St Marys, and Perth Country municipal websites.
  8. How will the survey data be stored over the long term?
    The Stratford Perth Community Foundation will store the sanitized data indefinitely in a secure location. Participating organizations will have indefinite access to the sanitized data.
  9. Did you work with other community organizations?
    While the Stratford Perth Community Foundation initiated the donor demographic survey project with the University of Waterloo CHEC Initiative, both parties have been working in collaboration with other community organizations. The following organizations are participating in the project: Stratford Festival, Stratford General Hospital Foundation, Stratford-Perth Family YMCA, Stratford-Perth Humane Society, and the United Way Perth-Huron.
  10. How will you collect the data? Whom will you contact to complete the survey?
    The data will be collected online via SurveyMonkey. Participating organizations will distribute the survey link to stakeholders. In addition, a request will be made through public relations to the municipalities of Stratford, St. Marys, and Perth County to provide the survey link to the public.
  11. Will you host a survey like this again?
    There is interest among the participating organizations in conducting a donor demographic survey, or a similar survey, either annually or biennially. This would provide charitable and not-for-profit organizations within the region with a stronger, more consistent understanding of the region’s donor base.
  12. I received the survey more than once. What should I do?
    If you donate to multiple charities and/or not-for-profit organizations within the region it is possible that you will receive this survey more than once. Please only complete the survey ONCE, as multiple responses may provide inaccurate results.
